The Post In Which I Explain To Those In The Southern California Real Estate Market That They Too Could Afford a Beautiful Home If They Moved To JERSEY

I couldn't help noticing that people commented on my "cute" house:

And the LOCATION! I think the word is "Quaint":

The grass seems greener, does it not? But upon closer inspection:

But maybe you guys won't be bothered by the 1,983,879,342,076 hours of blood, sweat and tears involved when you buy one of those charming old victorians...and lest you think I was kidding, blood was shed, Oh. My. God. the sweat, and there were DEFINITELY TEARS.

Maybe those of you in the Southern California Real Estate Market are saying, "I'm not afraid of a little hard work, it is worth it in the end." To you I say, you are right! For us, it was worth it in the end.

But please do not forget, with New Jersey prices, comes Northeast Weather:

How "cute" does our house look in this picture?

OMG, it's a fixer-upper!!! Just what I've always wanted! :) Seriously, girl, it will be SO worth it...eventually. It really is beautiful.

you're killing me over here!!! your home is beautiful. and nice job with all the fixer-upping. looks great even if it nearly killed you both. well honestly, we're actually considering a move out of CA. not to jersey, but after seeing this it is perhaps on my list. anything for sale in your neighborhood? :)

Um, wait. I live in PA, not an hour from the Jersey border and I feel the need to speak up on this matter. DO NOT MOVE HERE. Yes, it's gorgeous, yes, we're near NYC, DC, Baltimore, the Poconos and the ocean, yeah, yeah, yeah, but frankly this paying $200K for a CONDO is a bit outrageous. Move to the midwest people!! $200K can buy you a beautiful single family home with a 1/2 acre of land (unheard of out here).

Newly, I love your home. It's adorable and I can see the work you've had to do to make it so.

Okay, Amy has a point. The housing market is not cheap...but I watch House Hunters! I know the truth! Southern California people pay $650K for a 2 bedroom bungalow that is a fixer-upper!

Of course, the weather is nice, so...

Your house is amazing!! I grew up in a fixer upper and swore that I would never, ever in my life buy one. So, of course, now I sing a different tune and cannot wait until I can buy a house that I can work hard to make my own. Right, but I hate painting so someone else is going to have to do that. I mean, I can work a nail gun. LOVED the pictures!!!!!

It's still an adorable home!!! Don't care if it takes forever to make the inside finished, it will be worth it!

Amy, there are condos near my house selling for $215,000. Sure, they're two stories, but theyre tiny little shoeboxes!

Listen to Amy: The northeast is EXPENSIVE.

Um, I wish you could buy a condo for $200K around here! No way. (But I appear to be one of the ones you are talking to in the Southern California real estate market).

The pic with all the snow looks so pretty! i know it would be too cold for me, but it looks nice...

um... cute and charming like a postcard! So... let me unofficially appraise your home for you, were you to live in Orange County.

Let's see... cute house, though a fixer-upper, has a yard, has a deck, on an adorable street. I'm gonna say, $1.28 million -- because $1.3 million is just proposterous.

love your house!
